Nano racer, testing

There are projects based on crowdfunding that result! Yes, yes, and Nano racers are proof. Ok, they have far behind the original schedule, as they should have been delivered around February 2016. Has not he Nano racer not been overtaken by other products during these 6 months? Answer in this test ...

The main structure of Nano racer is made of a solid fairing 3D printing wherein are inserted the carbon arms 3 mm thick for a diagonal 12.3 cm. The motors are 8.5 mm brushed that lead propellers 6.6 cm in diameter. DSC_0022-1200Ils are held by perforated printed media. The two in the back are angled forward. The engine power of son are well hidden in grooves cut in the carbon arm. At the front, you see the camera for the immersion flights. Under the unit is a trap designed to hold the battery. A power cable than to connect the battery. One delivered with the Nano racer is a 3.7V 700 mAh Lipo 1S 20C in EPS. And ? And that's it for version "Pack Modéliste FPV" I pre-ordered during the campaign Kiss Kiss Bank Bank. No radio, this version is for use with a radio Frksy. A removable canopy just hide electronics ...

This canopy is not easy to remove, at least the first time, the time to understand how it works. Inside the Nano racer, we discover the main board which includes the flight controller and sockets for connecting motors. And the module for the radio link. There is also the camera and its electronics, connected to a 5.8 GHz transmitter and an antenna (which remains inside the Nano racer). A button changes the transmission frequency 5.8 GHz. This is a model with a power of 10 mW (legal in France and Europe) in 40 channels, including Raceband of ImmersionRC. Finally, there is a small Bluetooth module. That's all ! Everything apart is easy: no part is glued or screwed, while holding by clipping parts of the main structure. The Bluetooth module clings to the connectors on the flight map. This design without solid fixation has another interest that mounting and quick release (which does not do often), we will see later.

The battery power is provided by a small USB charger. Then you have to pair the remote control and the Nano racer. Handling requires connecting the device with a Windows PC or Mac. A dedicated application on PC, still in development, is available. But I chose to manage the configuration on Mac. No dedicated software, everything goes through the plugin Cleanflight Configurator for the Chrome browser - just like the racers. BT1Le Nano factory racer is flashed with Betaflight v2.8.2 (airDanceFilmLiteratureFashion available). You simply pair it with Bluetooth Nano racer Mac module. It is simple and painless, and also without the need to code (the endless 0000 or 1234). But because there is a but, the scope of the Bluetooth chip Nano racer is very small. It took place the device in front of the keyboard to be recognized. beta2Parfois no apparent reason, the connection was broken. The connection is slow, too, must not be pressed between each change of Cleanflight tab, but it works, and without cable. To initiate the pairing between Taranis FrSky and Nano racer, you have to launch the first in bind (D8), and enter the command line "rx_ppm_bind_procedure" in the CLI. Nothing's easier !

Additionally, if you need to purchase some rc drone accessories, you could search via Banggood, which is one of the wholesale platform to provide affordable prices, such as flysky remote, 2 axis camera gimbal, etc.
